Still Life.
This is
An ambitious, long-term watercolour project by Max Panks that aims to capture every working whisky distillery in the world.
The inaugural painting was completed in July 2025, featuring the beautiful Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery in Filey. Since then, the series has expanded across England, Ireland and Australia, documenting some of the world's most distinctive whisky producers.
Irish distilleries featured so far include Bushmills, Boann, Teeling, Roe & Co, Dingle, Blackwater and Pearse Lyons. A visit to Australia added Starward, Chief's Son and Bakery Hill to the collection, while the English distilleries currently represented include Spirit of Yorkshire, The Cotswolds Distillery, The Lakes Distillery, Grasmere and Bimber.
The next major chapter of the project is a dedicated expedition to Islay, Scotland, planned for March 2027. With hundreds of active whisky distilleries around the globe, the project is expected to take decades to complete, creating one of the most comprehensive painted records of the world's whisky-making heritage.
Every completed painting in the Still Life series is available as a museum-quality giclée print in three sizes, professionally produced by Max from his own studio.
